Chiropractic at Wellbeing Medical Centre
Chiropractic health care at Wellbeing Medical Centre focuses on treatment of neuromusculoskeletal complaints, including but not limited to back pain, neck pain, pain in the joints of the arms or legs, and headaches.
Doctors of Chiropractic – often referred to as Chiropractors or Chiropractic Physicians – practice a drug-free, hands-on approach to health care that includes patient examination, diagnosis and treatment.
The most common therapeutic procedure performed by doctors of chiropractic is known as “spinal manipulation,” also called “chiropractic adjustment.” The purpose of manipulation is to restore joint mobility by manually applying a controlled force into joints that have become hypomobile – or restricted in their movement – as a result of a tissue injury. Tissue injury can be caused by a single traumatic event, such as improper lifting of a heavy object, or through repetitive stresses, such as sitting in an awkward position with poor spinal posture for an extended period of time. Manipulation, or adjustment of the affected joint and tissues, restores mobility, thereby alleviating pain and muscle tightness, and allowing tissues to heal.
Doctors of chiropractic may assess patients through clinical examination, laboratory testing, diagnostic imaging and other diagnostic interventions to determine when chiropractic treatment is appropriate or when it is not appropriate.
Chiropractic Treatment – First Visit
New Patient Visit – Consultation, Examination & Treatment
The first visit normally takes 30 minutes. This will include a physical exam, testing your reflexes, range of motion and muscles, postural analysis, orthopedic and neurologic tests.
After we study your health history and correlate our examination findings, we can start Treatment. The chiropractor will do manipulation or chiropractic adjustment. Most of our patients begin to see results from the very first adjustment. Our chiropractors are using techniques specific for every patient's unique condition and, gentle enough for newborn or kids, yet able to restore function and movement for the athlete and senior.
Any X-rays or MRI done within the last five years will help us evaluate your condition and should be brought to the initial consultation.
Your second visit is ideally within two days of your first visit. The chiropractor will assess how your body responded to the first treatment. Your succeeding adjustments are as important as the first one. The number of your follow-up visits depends on your health problems and other factors such as age and general state of health.
Avoid relapse with regular visits.
Once patients experience the value of chiropractic, many choose to continue with some form of preventive or wellness chiropractic care. How long you decide to benefit from chiropractic care is always up to you. A Regular visit requires just 10 minutes. But don’t think the brevity of a regular visit lessens its value!
